The entry below is a synopsis of our speakers talk on 13th December 2023.
A very informative presentation this week was given by Mrs Rosemary Tatbit.
Rosemary started her Presentation with a short history of her work experience in care working and the fire service.
The presentation was structured into areas how fires start, what precautions they should take to minimise the potential risks and what to do when a fire starts.
Rosemary had with her several items which you would find in any home in this country, some items were said to be much greater at starting a fire situations and her rule of thumb was put them in the bin and replace them with a better design, check electrical items and don’t overload sockets by adding multi way blocks attached into a wall socket, change from deep fat/oil based fryers to using an Air Fryer.
Sensors were also discussed 1 detector per floor and positioned on the ceiling not on the wall. Many other item was discussed during this illuminating presentation.
This was a very good morning for all our members who thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and several questions followed from the men to conclude it.
